Favorite Children’s Books

I’ve  loved children’s books since long before I had children, so we have quite a collection.  The girls and I have loved traditional favorites like Goodnight, Moon, Olivia, anything by Eric Carle, but these are some of our most beloved. Even though we’ve moved on to chapter books in our nightly reading, these still sit on the shelf in their room and are pulled down from time to time:

Polar Bear Night by Lauren Thompson — a calming bedtime story

A Visitor for Bear by Bonnie Becker — I’m quite sure that the mouse in this book speaks in a British accent

Clara and Asha by Eric Rohmann — a little girl with a big imagination and a lot of “friends”

Kitten’s First Full Moon by Kevin Henkes — all the little kitten wants is the bowl of milk in the sky

Hooray for Fish by Lucy Cousins — a silly book about lots of silly kinds of fish (and one of the first books the girls “read” on their own)

What are your favorite children’s books?

Well, I have to bite on this offer. I love children’s books! Some of our favorites over the past 2-3 years have been:

Interrupting Chicken – David Ezra Stein
All the Gerald and Piggie books – Mo WIllems
The Pirate’s Eye – Robert Priest
Sparrow Girl – Sara Pennypacker and Yoko Tanaka
Runaway Bunny – Margaret Wise Brown
Me Hungry; Grumpy Bird – Jeremy Tankard

Boy, it was hard to limit this list! 🙂
