Occasionally, our church serves communion down front instead of our usual habit of passing the trays through the congregation. It’s quite an intimate practice as you look directly into the eyes of the people serving you and share communion.
Yesterday our family was asked to be one of the ones who serve, so we stood down front as a line of people came to us. Some of them we knew, some of them were missed friends in town for Summit, and many of them we’d never met. The girls proudly held the tray of bread (sometimes) saying “the body of Christ.” I love the way that Highland has been intentional about including families in the worship service and that my kids are seen as full participants in the body of Christ.
Thanks to my sweet friend, Karen, for taking pictures!!
