Embracing the Good Enough

Last week ate my lunch.  The first week of school went pretty well, but I think the novelty of it all is what was kept us going that week. Last week we added dance, a week of accumulated tiredness, and the actual work of teaching — like grading and course prep — into the mix.  And I didn’t manage it all that well.

Sunday I hosted small group a week early.

Monday the girls were out of school, but Bill and I weren’t.

Tuesday I didn’t make time to eat and ended up with a migraine.

Wednesday I stopped keeping track.

So this week, I’m embracing the good enough.

I’m sitting at Starbucks ploughing through a stack of homework papers, looking at my calendar for what the week holds, planning meals, diving into my course reading, and trying to remind my self of Voltaire’s truth, “the perfect is the enemy of the good.”

And I think I’ll have a second chai.

I had every intention of not getting onto blogs anymore but I’m missing you! And thinking how you called at exactly the right time last week. And how I haven’t talked to you since. Miss you friend! How is Friday morning? I’ll leave you a message if you are busy! Many hugs!
