Last week ate my lunch. The first week of school went pretty well, but I think the novelty of it all is what was kept us going that week. Last week we added dance, a week of accumulated tiredness, and the actual work of teaching — like grading and course prep — into the mix. And I didn’t manage it all that well.
Sunday I hosted small group a week early.
Monday the girls were out of school, but Bill and I weren’t.
Tuesday I didn’t make time to eat and ended up with a migraine.
Wednesday I stopped keeping track.
So this week, I’m embracing the good enough.
I’m sitting at Starbucks ploughing through a stack of homework papers, looking at my calendar for what the week holds, planning meals, diving into my course reading, and trying to remind my self of Voltaire’s truth, “the perfect is the enemy of the good.”
And I think I’ll have a second chai.
