Enough — My focus for 2012

Last year at this time, I chose to hold on to the word “abundance” for the year.  I was thinking specifically about abundances revealed to us while we lived in Europe, but we discovered so many more abundances when we return home — particularly in community — our friends, family, church, and students.

After a year of such abundance, I want to hold on to the word “enough” for 2012. It has so many meanings, and I am trying to focus on several of them: “enough” with some bad habits, for example, but mainly I want to focus on living in the “enough” and not trying to add more — more stuff, more busyness, more stress.

I’ve been focusing on Ephesians 3:14-19: ” For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God,” trying to live in the “enough” of God’s lavish grace and love.
