Magdalen College

Magdalen College (pronounced Maudlin) was where C.S. Lewis was a fellow, tutor, and friend to Tolkien.  It is stunningly beautiful.  Not that Oxford has disappointed  thus far, but this is what Oxford looks like in the imagination (at least my imagination).  The campus was built as a hospital in 1180 and then founded as a college in 1458.

This is New Hall — build in 1730ish — and the 2nd floor is where Lewis had his apartment and tutored students.
